Peterbilt Illinois – Joliet is taking a stand against hunger through donating $500 to the Spanish Community Center. This donation will help fill the stomachs of local families during the holiday season.
Many food pantries and organizations such as the Spanish Community Center, aim to help individuals in need through supplying basic necessities to families in need of assistance. Many of the individuals who use food pantries across Illinois live in poverty. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, this includes 11.9% of the Illinois population. This translates to 1,527,004 people across Illinois, over 12 times the population of Joliet.
Peterbilt Wisconsin & Illinois will be contributing $500 in each of the communities surrounding all 11 of its dealerships. A total of $5,500 will be contributed to food pantries across Wisconsin and Illinois. Donations are not the only thing that Peterbilt Wisconsin & Illinois give to food pantries; many employees volunteer their time. For Peterbilt Wisconsin & Illinois, the value is not just in a dollar amount, but also in touching those in need, through contributions of time and finances.
According to Eric and Kurt Jorgensen, owners of Peterbilt Wisconsin & Illinois, “We acknowledge the hunger crisis that strikes our communities and desire to influence this positively. Our mother, Dorothea Jorgensen, made us aware of this ‘silent' crisis through her many years of involvement with the Food Pantry of Waukesha County.” Due to this, the decision was made to give to local food pantries.
In addition to contributing to food pantries, Peterbilt Wisconsin & Illinois touch the communities they are located in year-round. Through helping toys for tots, transporting food with the U.S. Post Office food drive, contributing to the MACC fund, fund raising for the Special Olympics, participating in the Muscular Dystrophy Association Jail & Bail and many other events, Peterbilt Wisconsin & Illinois strive to positively impact the community.
