HOOD Loaders
HOOD Equipment was founded in 1965 by John Hood in Iron River, WI. John started building log loaders with $50, a dream, and a friendly banker who believed in John's knowledge of the industry, his stamina, and his work ethic. Today, HOOD Equipment is one of the largest manufacturers of hydraulic log loaders in the United States. Peterbilt Wisconsin & Illinois is proud to be an authorized HOOD truck mounted dealer. Our territory covers all of Wisconsin, Illinois and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
The HOOD Hydraulic Model 7000 & 8000 Loaders provide high performance results and the versatility to work in a variety of industries and applications. From the control console, one person can perform loading, sorting and lifting operations. Multiple mounting options such as various grapples and configurations are available to fit your specific application whether it is forestry, recycling, construction or refuse.

The 7000 boom sections are fabricated from T-1 steel, while the 8000 boom sections are made from high tensile rectangular tubing reinforced and plug welded at critical stress areas. Pivot pins are made from 4140 material.
Stabilizers
Two stabilizers are of the telescopic type. Each stabilizer is individually controlled for maximum stability on uneven terrain. Stabilizers are easily accessed from the operator’s main control valve. Safety check valves are used in stabilizers.

Hydraulic System
Boom cylinders feature integral counter balance valves. All cylinder barrels are made of heavy wall tubing. The pistons and glands are cast iron and feature replaceable wear rings. The cylinder rods are chrome plated. The cylinder pins are 2” in diameter and composed of heat-treated material.
